Reconstruction is generally considered to extend between 1865 (when the civil war ended) to 1877. Slavery had a huge role in the United States history, getting down in the 1600’s and was abolished in the 1800’s. Overwhelmingly, enslaved women worked doing hard manual labour growing sugar and other commercial crops.
