In addition to the 90s, as I call them there is one other place you might consult. S. rights, President Jefferson hoped to achieve a peaceful settlement with the British. Andrew Lambert is another British Historian that says Britain actually won the war, I wasn't aware of that (though it's a web article, he is a recognised Historian).

The Americans, on the other hand, regard the war as a successful defense of their Revolution, but since their primary objective, in a war they declared, was to invade and annex the British territory now called Canada, to see the war as a defense of anything is very interesting. Walking around the town and upon the extensive, but fast receding breast-works which were thrown up during the revolutionary war by the English Army, I enjoyed a fine view of the beautiful water and other interesting prospects which are here so strikingly presented to the eye.
