This view of the architect’s creativity is naive; architecture is never done in a vacuum and even so-called abstract buildings “look like” other abstract buildings or even other objects. This is true both in the sense that they proclaim the all-encompassing character of a unified field in its self-avowed capacity to eventually produce anything and in the even more all-encompassing claim to be able to take account of anything. An architecture whose tenets prohibit every manifestation of exuberance, power, or even high spirits, as the height of bad taste.
