I will not speculate on the reasons from a writer’s perspective other than to make the assumption that anthologies provide yet another avenue for their fiction to get into the marketplace and that has to be a good thing, right? From a reader perspective there are a couple of reasons that anthologies are important to me. The foundation of what are considered the classic works of fiction in the genre and the authors whose influence continues on past their deaths had their genesis in what could arguably be considered the anthologies of their day: the pulp science fiction magazines , cited: Madness on the Orient Express: 16 Lovecraftian Tales of an Unforgettable Journey read pdf.
