(Examples of such forts, some of them long abandoned, can still be found in Kalinjar and Ajaigarh in Central India, for instance.) Over time, India's Rajput, and other rulers learnt to build enormous palaces within these forts and evolved techniques of insulating them from the heat, and palace architects found ways of ensuring optimal ventilation and exposure to light.
