Students can also use their ACT or SAT test scores in place of the Accuplacer. Over 1,500 institutions administer ACCUPLACER tests as part of the enrollment process. Instead, each campus has its own curriculum and its own courses, which may or may not correspond well with courses on other UW campuses. AP courses are much more rigorous than high school college prep courses. The final decision for validated credit is determined by the appropriate department. Many but not all Ohio high schools offer advanced-placement or college-level courses for students. I can see that this would be true for credits coming from a private college, but coming from another state university surprised me. AP® courses prepare students to take Advanced Placement® exams and earn college credit. Familiarize yourself with the format of the COMPASS assessment by going online and trying some sample questions here and here, or do a Google search for COMPASS for more options.
